Tibetan Prayer Flags
BACKGROUND
Prayer flags, now known as Tibetan Prayer Flags, date back thousands of years to India, where cloth flags in 5 solid colors where used to represent the 5 basic elements: Yellow-earth Green- water Red- fire White-air Blue-space
These 5 elements were depicted alternating in balance, symbolizing an effort to keep the external world in HARMONY and inviting internal HARMONY.
Later Buddhist practice added symbols, prayers and mantras to the flags for generating and extending health, prosperity, well-wishes and the overcoming of obstacles. The flags were placed outdoors where the wind would engage the flags and generate this positive energy, extending it throughout the world.
